[05/02/04 - After the
Original Dance]
Sinead Kerr: I don’t think we could
have skated it any better. The crowd was right behind us and it was
great. It was good to warm them up for the future groups. We always aim
to entertain the crowd. So that was our main goal. At the end of the day
we’re not looking for a medal here. We’re looking to gain some support
from skating fans and enjoy ourselves. (On competing in their first
Europeans) It is extremely different from most international
competitions certainly. We did Cup of Russia which was a good warm up
for it because it meant we saw some of the international skaters we’ve
seen before only on TV. We saw them live, so weren’t so shocked when we
came here to see people like the Bulgarians (Denkova/Staviski) and
Navka/Kostomarov wandering around in the changing rooms.
John Kerr: (On the crowd reaction) That was wonderful. We do have
some support that came over from Great Britain with us, but I think we
had some neutral support as well, so that is always nice. Cup of Russia
was a brilliant preparation for this. It meant we weren’t quite so
overwhelmed with the atmosphere and the scale of this event.
